Originally only available in coupe form the 911 Supersport provided a solution that made sense for people who wanted a Turbo without buying a car that wanted to kill them, at the time the 911 930 Turbo was nicknamed the Widow Maker and for a very good reason. The Porsche 911 930 SuperSport which is known as the SSE model or Turbo-Look was first introduced in 1984 and these cars were taken off the production line and taken to the special build facility via the E-Programme. Taking the standard Carrera model and then adding the Turbo’s wide-body, spoilers, suspension, four-piston fixed calipers, 16-inch forged alloy rims and low profile tyres, etc was adding on average 27,950 Deutschemarks to the price of the car which was around the same cost as a Turbo but Porsche decided to proceed with this venture. The issue was this model was not going to be a cheap car costing the same a Turbo and Porsche was unclear if this would sell. Porsche came up with an idea to build a Porsche 911 Turbo without a Turbo to allow the car to be a more driveable car allowing drivers to get the most out this amazing car without the huge impacting turbo lag and then huge power release which caught drivers out unaware and caused most of the incidents for the Turbo range.
